Lagos na wa! It is a city if many drama. A middle aged man, Taiwo Rufus, has been arrested by the police after he was accused of stealing money from his wife. The man who is a trader, is said to have taken N500,000 belonging to his wife, Esther, and disappeared with it.
The man has been charged before an Oshodi Magistrate court as he has not been able to refund the money.
Police prosecutor, Cpl. Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that Rufus, 54, who resides at No. 4, Oremeji Street, Ilupeju, Lagos, committed the offence on May 20 at his residence.
“The accused stole the money his wife kept inside her wardrobe and disappeared to an unknown destination,” he said.
Cpl. Kehinde Olatunde said when the complainant discovered that her money was missing, she called her husband on the telephone, but he refused to pick her calls.
“The accused also refused to come home and all efforts the complainant made to retrieve her money failed,” he said. The prosecutor said the accused was arrested 10 days after his disappearance.
Anyway, efforts are on to settle the matter out of court but the wife is insisting on her complete money.
