 her life, of how she got pregnant when she was in secondary school, how
 the baby daddy denied the child and how she had to relocate to have her
 baby only for the child to die 18 months later. In this very deep 
interview, Hon. Oladapo talked about what she did to change her life. </span></span><br />

 I was in secondary school, I was a brilliant student. In my primary 
school I came second best student in our G2 exams but unfortunately, I 
started moving with some people who were more experienced and exposed 
than I was. One way or the other, I got pregnant when I was in SS1. The 
person who was responsible denied it because I was young and naive. I 
usually keep to myself a lot. My parents didn't know I was pregnant 
after four months and the guy also didn't know until about 4 months, 
although he equally impregnated about 2 other girls at the same time. He
 was a big boy in secondary school, the Senior Prefect, very brilliant.</span></span> <span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a></span></span></blockquote>

 all started by exchanging novels and textbooks. I had to leave Akute 
where my parents stayed to live with my paternal grandfather in Kajola, a
 small village which was hard for me to endure because the viallage had 
nothing. I had my baby in December 1991. After the naming of the baby, 
my family held a meeting and asked me what I wanted to do and I told 
them I wanted to go back to school. My paternal grandmother was totally 
against it, simply because she felt it was a waste sending a girl child 
to school after what I had done but my father was ready to give me 
another chance which I will forever be grateful for. I enrolled in a 
school not far from my house because of my baby and I repeated my class.
 Unfortunately, the child died at 18months in 1993. It was like double 
jeopardy for  me, nothing to show for the stigma and missing school. 
When he was buried, I went to his grave and requested from God to help 
me because I was determined to be successful which was like a vow. I 
even cursed the boy who got me pregnant because he denied the pregnancy,
 that he would not be greater than me in life. I don't know his level 
now but I am grateful for what I am today.</span></span></blockquote>

 have forgiven him. After my secondary school, I decided to leave home 
to begin my journey. In 1998, I was admitted into the University of 
Lagos, things were tight for me then but someone introduced me to a job 
which was thrift collecting and daily contribution. I started working 
there and for years, I collected daily contributions in Ketu market and 
some other popular markets in Lagos state. I didn't have enough time to 
attend classes. I had to trek some places so my money would be enough. 
It was while I was working as a thrift collector, while coming from the 
office one day I stopped at my mother's shop to take some foodstuff from
 her shop. I met a man there who bought most of the foodstuffs and we 
started talking. That was the man I married and we have two kids. After 
then, my life changed" she said</span></span></blockquote>

<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">How is it like coming from a polygamous family, considering that many people say awful tales about it?<br />In
 Yoruba, they say, “Ile olorogun, eta’nu ma wa ni ibe”. But I think it 
has to do with individuals. I enjoy my childhood and I am proud of my 
parents. They had their own mistakes and they made their own choices. I 
also had my own mistakes and I have my own choices to make.  So, I will 
not come out and say anything awful about my family because I have my 
own stepsisters and stepbrothers. If my father didn’t have them with 
their mum, I probably would not have brothers and sisters to call my 
own. So, I will say it is a blessing to me. Though I am not propagating 
polygamy, it is part of Africa.<br />When did you start leaving independently of your parents?<br />When
 I say I was alone that time, I mean that everybody was going about his 
or her business and nobody wanted to really understand how you were 
feeling psychologically. It was just me in my world, so one could do 
some naughty things through peer group influence. I won’t advise parents
 to leave their children alone. They should try and understand how they 
feel, even in their decision-making because you might not know where you
 have left them alone.<br />Did that also result in your dropping out of school?<br />Yes.
 You know, you can just stray away without looking back, if you refuse 
to listen to what people are saying. My mother was extremely strict and 
she shaped me with proverbs. The proverbs were enough strokes of the 
cane that will last you a lifetime.  I missed with friends who didn’t 
think of the future but the present and you could just play away your 
lectures, exam dates, tests and assignments. That is it why I still 
maintain that it is you as an individual.<br />I guess that was also the period you got pregnant?<br />Yes,
 that was the period. I had my baby; and like I said, you now have to 
start correcting the mistake you have made. All in all, it was a 
wonderful experience that I can never trade away today. I thank God I 
had him then, though early. As I said earlier, my youth really got me 
prepared for what lies ahead of me. As an individual, I already knew 
what I wanted and how I wanted it, so I would just say it is a blessing 
that it happened then.<br />How old were you then?<br />I was 17.<br />You mum must have been very disappointed in you, knowing that she was always cautioning you.<br />She
 took me in, washed me, cleaned me up and put my feet firmly on ground 
such that I had to start and do it right. I would say ever since then, 
our bond got tighter as mother and child. She is a mother any human 
being will ever wish for. A lot of people gave her all sorts of advice.<br />Did she feel she didn’t do enough to caution you?<br />She
 just attributed it to destiny. I am the only child; so, if I had to be 
at home, I would be locked up in the house. But as a mischievous child, I
 devised a means of still going out to play with my friends. Of course, 
it wasn’t anything naughty. But a child needs people around him or her. 
So, it is not really nice when a child is alone in a massive compound 
because he or she might get naughty. And at times, you get tired of 
being alone.<br />So, you wanted to explore?<br />Yes, you are right.<br />And then, you abused the freedom in the process?<br />When
 the people who are supposed to shape you are not around, you tend to 
miss your ways. I guess that was what happened and I made my mistakes in
 time and corrected them in time.<br />Did you attempt to abort the pregnancy?<br />Yes, I did. But it didn’t work for me.<br />How?<br />I
 was asked to use some pills; but you know, destiny is destiny. He was 
meant to come and he came. He couldn’t even be aborted. There are 
children out there whose parents did everything humanly possible to 
terminate them, but they still came. There are reasons why the abortion 
would fail and it is only God who knows the reason. And if you are lucky
 not to get it terminated, you will see the reason. Honestly, I don’t 
think it is a good option, but it is as old as prostitution.<br />Why did you consider abortion when you knew the man who was responsible for the pregnancy?<br />I
 was a teenager, so I probably would not have made any good decision on 
my own. I couldn’t even allow my mum to know in time. In fact, I didn’t 
even know I was pregnant until I was way gone, so that is why I said he 
is a destiny child.<br />Like how many months?<br />I was about five months gone! By the time I knew and thought of abortion, nobody would want to do that for me.<br />What advice will you give teenagers who are pregnant now?<br />I
 am worried about teenagers nowadays. I have seen and heard all sorts. I
 don’t know what to do, but I just believe that God, the government, the
 NGOs, parents, teachers, guardians and good citizens of Nigeria should 
help to shape the young ones coming behind us. They have lost it. The 
mistake I have made, I have been able to correct them by myself. But I 
have seen and heard of other cases where people could not correct 
themselves and their lives went in shambles. That you are not a graduate
 is not an excuse.<br />Also, ignorance is not an excuse. If you don’t 
learn a trade or do anything to improve your life and you expect manna 
to come from Heavens, you will either steal or prostitute; and if you do
 either of these, you will end up destroying your destiny. But if you 
know you have a good plan for yourself, you should try and stay under 
your parents and obey the laws. I am not saying you can’t come across 
one or two misfortunes in life, but you can avoid it when you stay on 
the right tracks.<br />Was it a case of infatuation or love?<br />It was infatuation. It couldn’t have been real love because I didn’t know what real love was then.<br />How do you relate to your son now?<br />I
 relate to him very well. I call him my correction. Everything I did 
wrong, he is doing it right. He is 19 years old now and he is a 
wonderful young chap. Every mother will say that about her child. But 
when outsiders say that about your child, then, you know you are not 
trying to massage your ego. I thank God I have a good product in the 
society. I am not trying to praise him overboard, but he knows his 
boundaries; so, I thank God for everything.<br />What is it like being a single parent?<br />It
 is not a child’s play at all. There was a time he lived with his dad 
because I have to fulfill all righteousness. He wanted him and we 
discussed it, so I allowed him to go. But circumstances still warranted 
me to be in the custody of the child now. So, raising him alone is a 
blessing to me. It has made me strong. Whatever decision I make, I make 
sure I put him into consideration. I thank God I am not lazy; at least, I
 have been able to feed him well, clothe him well and give him good 
education. It has not been easy, but being a single parent has made me 
who I am today.<br />You are the only child of your mum and you have so far had only him, so aren’t you bothered?<br />I don’t see it as something bizarre. I have loads of cousins and I have stepbrothers and stepsisters.<br />But I am particular about your own?<br />I
 am going to get married and I am going to have more children. But for 
now, it is just my career and me. My son is a grown-up; so, I am not 
nursing anymore.<br />From experience, I want a real man, an African man. 
Well, not a tyrant. But then, he should be in charge. I want a father 
figure and I want my own husband.<br />Why has it been hard for you to get a man who has all the qualities?<br />I
 won’t say hard because I sure have suitors. I am, however, waiting for 
the God-ordained one. I don’t want to make any mistake. There are so 
many factors that lead to separation in marriage. If you marry outside 
the will of God, there will be a crack or separation along the line. It 
is a sacred thing.<br />So, it should not be because you have come of age 
or because you desire it or because you are searching. If you rush into 
it, you will rush out of it. These are the things we should learn and 
accept in life. Some people are not meant to get married! So, I won’t 
say because I have suitors, I will rush into marriage. A lot of them 
will tell you they will marry you, but iro ni won pa( they are lying). 
They probably just want to use you to ‘pose’ as their wife, given that 
you an actress. After three months, one year or so, it will pack up.  I 
have pressure from my mum and others to get married. They say they will 
buy gele and aso.<br />But I might shock them because I might only pick 
gele. I don’t want any elaborate ceremony.  So, it depends on what God 
has designed for me. I am not finding it hard to get a husband. At the 
set time, the right person will come my way.<br />But some believe you don’t want to get married because you have all that a man may want to give you?<br />I
 tell a lot of guys that I can’t have anything to do with them, but we 
can be friends because, at the end of the day, nothing good will come 
out of it. I can’t allow myself to be used as a display thing. Some of 
them even have fiancés tucked abroad and they date you for months and 
years. But before you know what it is happening, they are gone.</span></span>

Mister Dennis Mejiren, 23, showed what bravery is all about when he 
muscled robbers to reclaim his brand new Q-Link motorcycle which he uses
 for public transportation, popularly known as 'okada' in Nigeria. The 
robbery incident took place at Otu-Jermi, headquarters of Ughelli South 
Local Government Area, Delta State.<br />

when they asked me to stop at the Jeremi Stadium. There, one of them

they tried to make away with my bike. He fell, losing hold of the gun in
 the process. This happened at the Agbowhiame Road right in from of the 
Jeremi FM Radio Complex. The JFM gateman was watching the unfolding 
drama, with his big Alsatian dog barking. I called on the gateman to 
assist in fighting the robbers, but the sight of the gun discouraged 
him.”</blockquote>
<br />
Dennis further narrated that the robber who tried to escape with his 
bike was forced to return when he noticed that he (Dennis) had held his 
partner in crime to a fierce combat.<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“With two against one, they overpowered me and zoomed off with my bike 
after one of them had hit me hard on my head with the gun three times, 
leaving me bleeding seriously from three cuts on the head.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“Luckily, a fellow Okada rider came along. I explained to him and we 
chased after them. At Agbowhiame, we were told they headed towards 
Erhuwaren. We followed that through Kiagbodor to Oviri Olomu where we 
sighted them on the Oviri-Ewu Road. The community vigilante communicated
 their Ewu counterparts, but they diverted towards Okparabe and we 
pursued without their knowledge.”</blockquote>
However, the robbers on sighting the community's vigilante on their 
trail had to reverse by Okparabe community but the chasers had 
double-crossed them, waiting to apprehend the criminals in what was a 
road show.<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“We were already on that road, so they were now riding towards us. I had
 disguised with the cap belonging to my Okada colleague. So the robbers 
had no idea I was the one they had robbed and now chasing them.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“As they approached, I disembarked from the bike and started moving 
quietly towards them on their right of way. With a machete I borrowed 
from a local farmer, I cut the one riding my bike on one arm. They both 
fell from the bike and we and the locals descended on them.”</blockquote>
The incident was later confirmed by the Delta State Police Public 
Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, who also gave the names of the 
apprehended robbers as Paul Ogilo and Victor Philip. The Delta PPRO, 
however, described the gun carried by the robbers as a “pistol like”, 
while adding that the victim’s bike as unregistered.<br />
<br />
The victim, however, had this to say:<br />

“What they pointed at me when they took my bike was a shot gun. And they
 meant to shoot me. My luck was the gun malfunctioned. I would have been
 dead.”</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“When Police arrived the scene the robbers had been badly injured, the 
motorbike recovered and suspects confessed to the crime and others. 
Preliminary investigation is on,” DSP Kalu added.</blockquote>
The police had retained the suspects and the victim's bike in the Divisional Police Headquarter. Dennis, who spoke to <i>KayNaija.Com</i> at
 his place of residence, Onigbo, is still on his way to full recovery 
from his battered head that has been stitched. His final words to us was
 an appeal to the police to release his bike to him so that he can 
resume his 'okada' job that sustains him.<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“I just acquired the bike. I have valid proof of ownership and I appeal 
they release the bike to me to enable me continue with my okada work 
which is what sustains me,” he stated.</blockquote>

Heart breaking story of how Doctors Medical Error Led to Dora Akunyili’s death! [PHOTO]

<span style="font-size: medium;">When
 Mrs Dora Nkem Akunyili was the Zonal Secretary (South-east) of the 
Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund in 1998, Nigerian doctors gave her what 
many of her family members considered to be a health scare. They said 
she had a growth and needed surgery.</span>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a><br />
Akunyili, then 44, 
decided to travel to the United States, first to get a second opinion 
and then undergo the prescribed surgery. The bill for the medical trip 
was $17,000, including $12,000 for the surgery.<br />
During 
pre-surgery check-up in the US, the doctors told her the Nigerian 
doctors had made a wrong diagnosis and that she did not need any 
surgery.</span>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><i> </i>It was said to be a minor issue that medication would solve.<br />
She
 thanked the doctors and, to their surprise, said she was going to 
return the money meant for the surgery to PTF. That was strange. 
Nigerian government officials had devised a way of making sure such 
monies were not returned to the treasury.<br />
The hospital 
informed the PTF, under the leadership of Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, 
about one honest Nigerian they had found. Buhari, himself a 
straightforward person, was very impressed. He wrote a letter to 
Akunyili commending her honesty.</span>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><b>NAFDAC </b><br />
Then
 came 2001. President Olusegun Obasanjo wanted to appoint a 
director-general for the National Agency for Drug and Food 
Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and asked for the recommendation of 
an honest Nigerian pharmacist. Akunyili’s name promptly came up. Someone
 who had heard about her PTF record recommended her.<br />
There
 was a little problem, a Nigerian problem. Objections were raised that 
the minister of health, Prof. ABC Nwosu, was an Igbo from Anambra State 
and NAFDAC, being a powerful agency under the ministry, should not be 
headed by another Igbo from Anambra.<br />
It was also argued 
that the market for fake and substandard products were controlled by the
 Igbo, with Onitsha – also in Anambra State – a major centre for the 
illicit business. She was going to protect “her people”, the antagonists
 said.<br />
Obasanjo, stubborn to the cause,  ignored the 
observations and appointed her. She went on to do a credible job and 
ended up as one of the most outstanding public officers in Nigeria’s 
history, celebrated locally and globally. She had lost a sister to fake 
drugs, and that was perhaps the impetus she needed to go on the 
offensive.</span>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><b>Misdiagnosis</b><br />
Meanwhile,
 Akunyili always went abroad for check-ups and she was always given an 
all-clear. She continued to look robust and energetic, and took up 
another government job as minister of information and communications. 
But on July 13, 2013, something strange happened to her. She was 
preparing to travel to the United States to receive an award. The 
following day was her birthday. Her 59th, precisely. Then she fell ill. 
She was physically weak and having pains. She decided to go ahead with 
her trip and attend to her health in the United States.<br />
It
 was while she was there that new checks were carried out. Alas, she had
 cancer. The original diagnosis in 1998 was right. But the diagnosis at 
the point of surgery was wrong.<br />
She became seriously ill 
and there were fears she could lose her life. She was in the hospital 
for months and only returned to Nigeria this year when the doctors said 
she was improving.<br />
Her last public appearance was at the 
National Conference in Abuja, where she was a delegate. Pictures of a 
frail-looking Akumyili soon went viral on the internet.<br />
TheCable
 could not ascertain the type of cancer, but there are several reports 
pinpointing cervical – and some claim it was ovarian. Globally, cervical
 cancer is the second most common and the fifth deadliest cancer in 
women, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). Akunyili died 
on June 7, 2014 in India after surviving many death rumours.</span>

The 13-year-old daughter of poor Indian farmers who became the youngest girl to climb Mount Everest said Wednesday that she "shed joyful tears" at the summit after a grueling climb across difficult terrain and personal fear.<br /><br />Nepal requires climbers to be at least 16 years old to scale its peaks, but Malavath Poorna said she and a team of Nepalese guides climbed the 29,035-foot mountain on May 25 from the northern side in Tibet. There are no age restrictions in China.<br /><br />"It was very difficult. Every step is a dangerous step," a smiling Poorna told reporters in New Delhi, describing steep slopes, exposed rocks, deep crevasses and extreme cold that went below minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit.<br /><br />At 10,830 feet, she said she saw "six dead bodies. I was shocked. Oh my god I got some fear."<br /><br />But she remembered her training and regained her confidence.<br /><br />"When I reached the top of Everest, very good experience. I feel great and proud, and I shed joyful tears" as she looked around and saw "mighty mountains and morning sunlight," she said in English, waving her hands expressively as she spoke.<br /><br />The climb was verified by the China Tibet Mountaineering Association in Lhasa, making Malavath the youngest girl to climb Everest. American Jordan Romero, from Big Bear, California, became the youngest boy at age 13 to reach the summit -- also from the Tibetan side -- in 2010.<br /><br />Malavath said her parents, impoverished farmers from the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, encouraged her during eight months of training despite the fact that she had never before been on a mountain. Her family are dalits, once known as "untouchables," at the bottom of India's ancient caste system.<br /><br />The expedition was sponsored by the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institution Society as part of its program to encourage and help underprivileged students in India.</div>

 a grass roots campaign against diabetes and high blood pressure.<br /><br />Present at the event as brand ambassadors were Nollywood stars such as Ini Edo, Uche Jombo, Monalisa Chinda and Desmond Elliot.<br /><br />Dukwe
 lamented that some Nigerians were investing funds from the country in 
Europe and other Western countries, leaving the people at home jobless.<br /><br />He
 observed that Nigeria was going through a lot of challenges as a result
 of corruption that had brought rot to the system. He, therefore, called
 on Nigerians to embrace compassion and show love to each other.<br /><br />Dukwe
 said, “There is a street in London; it is called Edgerton Crescent. 
Edgerton Crescent is the most expensive street in the world. Houses 
there are worth £3m to £4m.<br /><br />“British celebrities that have money 
don’t buy houses on that street. They will tell you it is too expensive.
 But 70 per cent of the houses there are owned by Nigerians.<br /><br />“The
 thing that is missing in Nigeria is compassion. We want to use 
compassion as a value and drive it through people so that people can 
help each other in the society. Our aim is to make compassion a core 
value in the society.”<br /><br />He noted that the ‘Kill the Killers 
Initiative’ was established to attack the major diseases that cut short 
the lives of people in Nigeria and across Africa.<br /><br />According to 
him, diabetes and high blood pressure form over 60 per cent of the cause
 of deaths among adults in Nigeria, just as malaria forms 70 per cent of
 the deaths among children in the country.<br /><br />“In Nigeria and across
 Africa, we have failed immeasurably by paying little or no attention to
 principal diseases that cut the lives of our people short and thus 
leaving our life expectancy to numbers way below all the advanced 
nations,” he said.</span>

 arm came up to beg for arms. I was going to donate some money to him 
when my friend held me back and turned to the young man asking, "Why are
 you begging?" the man replied, "because I have one arm."<br />

friend then told him to go home and think of what he could do with one

of an inspiring 37 years old American woman - Barbie Thomas, who lost 
her both arms to a terrible electrical accident as a toddler yet, never 
gave up on pursuing her dream of being a body builder.<br />
This exciting lady says she can do everything a complete human can do only that she uses her feet.<br />

requirements in sporting activities, Barbie decided to take a bold step.<br />

Barbie lost her arms at the age of two when she climbed an electrical 
transformer and grabbed the wires. The electricity shock scorched from
